Los Angeles has given me so much. In many ways it gave me my self back. When my life went crashing apart, this place and its energy picked me up. It was the energy of the streets, the people, the river, the ocean, that put a pen back in my hand. That drove me to draw again. To write again. To reconnect with a lifeline I had discarded long ago.

100% of proceeds of the print “The Antidote” will be given to mutual aid efforts to support recovery from the LA fires through @berniescoffeeshop. An original of this watercolor + marker piece will be available for auction next month through @artiststakeaction.

And with the kindness of LA, I found that again. And then I discovered all these other missing parts of myself that I never knew I had. Just scattered around the alleys and secret desert corners of LA County. And it is this magic that defines LA to me. A kind and generous place filled with people who bid each other farewell with “ride safe!” A place where mutual aid has been protecting communities long after its government has abandoned them. A place that I love, where so many people I love live. Thanks for spreading some kindness in this dark time for LA. Los Angeles, I’m yours.
